National Heritage Academies schools host a range of fun and unique activities throughout the summer, as well as preparing for the start of school. From exciting events to engaging experiences, there is something for everyone at NHA schools.

Schools Sponsor Second Annual Cherry Hill Village Festival

Canton Prep High School, Achieve Charter Academy, and Canton Charter Academy were proud to be major sponsors of the Second Annual Cherry Hill Village Festival in Canton, Michigan, Aug. 27 and 28. Perfect weather made it a great weekend for the nearly 10,000 attendees. Representing their schools, they received two prime booth spaces and were featured in Canton Today magazine, which was mailed to more than 39,000 homes.

The booths were a huge success, drawing a steady flow of families who enjoyed spinning the wheel for prizes and learning more about the high school opportunity at Canton Prep. Admissions Manager Angela Liegghio and Principals from the three schools spent time at their booths to answer questions, while Deepa Sivakumar and Lalita Mishra, members of the Canton crew of school ambassadors, provided additional support. All were proud to be part of the successful event that was such a great experience for the entire community.

A Day to Remember at Fortis Academy

It was a day to remember at Fortis Academy as over 500 people gathered for the Back-to-School Carnival on Aug. 25. Families came to meet their teachers, see their classrooms, and drop off classroom supplies. They also had the opportunity to complete required paperwork, pick up Driveline cards, and purchase Fortis spirit wear. Making the event even more enjoyable were the bouncy houses, a mobile escape room, petting farm, pony rides, and popsicles available for all families to enjoy. The Dean of Special Education and Intervention, Kimberly Powers, proudly remarked that the turnout included both returning families and first-time families.

Grand River Academy’s Successful Meet the Teacher Night/Community Partners Expo

The Meet the Teacher Night/Community Partners Expo at Grand River Academy on Aug. 23 was a resounding success, with Detroit Lions mascot Roary providing a warm welcome to families, scholars and staff. Students were able to visit their new teachers, drop off supplies and take part in the festivities, including face painting, waffles on a stick, and ice cream. Additionally, community partners including Livonia Police, S.T.Y.L.E., Dove Pharmacy, and M & M Aftercare set up tables and provided information. The intervention staff even went one step further by giving away 100 reading books to scholars! Every student walked away with brag tags from each classroom and vendor table, creating a memorable experience for everyone involved.

Exciting Meet and Greet at South Pointe Scholars Charter Academy

South Pointe Scholars Charter Academy hosted a successful Meet and Greet in early August that was attended by over 350 individuals from 110 families. Families enjoyed the live DJ, food, and fun activities like bounce houses, cornhole, frisbee, lawn Jenga, field day games, raffle prizes, and a spinning wheel for prizes. It was an especially exciting occasion for parents to meet the new principal, Ralph Garza.
