The Canton Corner

Canton TWP, MI Community

Tired of the same old golf courses? At Fellows Creek Golf Club in Canton, Michigan, variety is the name of the game. With three different nine-hole layouts to mix and match, every round feels like a new adventure. And when you’re done conquering the greens, the bar and grill are ready to help you toast your victories—or forget your losses.

A Course Designed to Keep You on Your Toes

Fellows Creek isn’t your average golf course. Designed by Michigan’s legendary father-son duo, W. Bruce Matthews and Jerry Matthews, the layout is as thoughtful as it is scenic. Each of the three nines—the South, West, and North—has its own personality, making every round feel fresh.

  • The South Nine: This section has rolling terrain and some memorable challenges. The fourth hole is a par-5 lined with trees on one side and a narrow green guarded by a bunker. And don’t forget the ninth hole—a par-3 so tricky it once made the Detroit Free Press’ “Most Difficult Holes” list.
  • The West Nine: If you like risk-reward scenarios, you’ll love this one. The second hole is a short par-4 that tempts you to drive straight to the green—if you can avoid the creek and bunkers. Meanwhile, the seventh hole is a par-3 with a two-tiered green that will test your precision.
  • The North Nine: This nine has some of the property's most scenic and strategic holes. The third hole is a classic risk-reward par-5 with bunkers and water hazards waiting to catch your mistakes. And if you’re up for a challenge, the seventh hole’s 223-yard par-3 will demand length and accuracy.

Each nine measures over 3,200 yards from the back tees but offers four tee boxes per hole to accommodate players of all skill levels.

More Than Just Golf

Fellows Creek isn’t just about hitting balls into holes—it’s about having fun while doing it. Here’s what else you can look forward to:

  • Bar & Grill: After your round (or before—no judgment here), head to the full-service bar and grill for some food and drinks. Whether you’re celebrating birdies or drowning bogeys, this spot has your back.
  • Banquet Facility: Planning a wedding, corporate event, or family gathering? Fellows Creek’s year-round banquet facility can handle it all with style.
  • Beginner-Friendly Perks: New to golf? No problem! Fellows Creek offers complimentary club rentals for beginners with a paid round. They even have used sets for sale if you’re ready to commit.

A Commitment to Nature

Golf courses aren’t always known for their environmental friendliness, but Fellows Creek is breaking that mold. As an Audubon International Cooperative Sanctuary, the club protects local wildlife habitats and conserves natural resources. So, while you’re lining up your putt, don’t be surprised if you spot deer grazing nearby or hear birds chirping in the distance.

Affordable Fun for Everyone

Golf doesn’t have to break the bank at Fellows Creek. With reasonable rates for 9 or 18 holes and membership options for frequent players, there’s something for every budget. They also host outings and professionally organized tournaments from start to finish.
