Canton Township is thrilled to announce that the first of several improvements scheduled for Heritage Park in 2023 has commenced, with a modernized, inclusive playground installed this summer. Funded by Wayne County Park's Millage and Canton Investments, these renovations add new play features, renovated restrooms, a new fishing pier and bridges, asphalt and paving replacement, and hydration stations. As part of the Community Development Block Grant program, these projects are set to be completed by fall 2023. They will provide a much-improved environment for the thousands of individuals who use the park yearly.

Canton Township is delighted to report that the first multiple park improvements scheduled for Heritage Park in 2023 have commenced. The North Playground will be modernized with inclusive, ADA-compliant playground equipment such as a four-person see-saw, swings, activity panels, and soft-fall surfacing. If all goes according to plan, construction should be completed by mid-June 2023. These exciting renovations are made possible through the Community Development Block Grant program.

Heritage Park is undergoing several improvements this year, funded by Wayne County Parks Millage and Canton investments. These projects include renovations to the Splash Playground, adding shade sails, new play features, and hydration stations. Additionally, the fishing pier and bridge are being replaced, and restroom renovations are taking place in the north and south areas of the park. Asphalt and paving replacement of several parking lots and paths throughout the park have also been approved. The community can anticipate a greatly improved park experience due to these projects.

Canton Supervisor Anne Marie Graham-Hudak proudly announced the improvements to Heritage Park, which are being made to ensure this popular community destination is an even more inviting and safer place for the thousands of individuals who use it every year. Investing in these renovations meets and addresses the ever-growing community's needs, making Heritage Park the heart of the municipal complex. During the upcoming paving projects, road closures, limited parking, and alternate routes will occur. However, ample signage will be used to direct traffic and to point out alternate parking areas that will be made available. Project updates and parking impacts related to these ongoing park improvements will be posted online at www.cantonfun.org/1361, with all projects expected to be completed by fall 2023, weather permitting, and pending material availability.
