Attention all parents of young athletes in Canton, MI! Does your daughter dream of improving her basketball skills while making new friends? The Grade 3-5 Girls Basketball Training Camp is here to make that happen! Starting January 13, this six-week program is designed to teach essential skills, boost confidence, and create lasting memories—all under the expert guidance of Coach AbdelKareem.
What’s the Game Plan?
This isn’t your average basketball camp. The organizers have carefully designed the program to cater to girls in grades 3 through 5, regardless of their experience level. The camp’s primary goal is to enhance basketball skills while fostering a sense of camaraderie and sisterhood. For six weeks, participants will engage in:
- Skill-Building Drills: From dribbling to shooting and everything in between, these drills are tailored to help young players improve their technique.
- Games and Tournaments: What’s practice without a little competition? Friendly games and mini-tournaments will keep things lively.
- Teamwork and Respect: Beyond basketball, the camp emphasizes mutual respect among players, coaches, and the facility.
Oh, and there’s a thoughtful touch—participants will take a break for Salah (prayer), ensuring everyone feels included and comfortable.
Meet the Coach: AbdelKareem
The camp is led by Coach AbdelKareem, whose basketball résumé is as impressive as his passion for coaching. A former player for the U18 Jordan National Team at the West Asia Cup in 2018, Coach AbdelKareem also played high school ball at Long Island Lutheran High School—ranked among the top 10 teams in the country. Before transitioning into coaching, he continued his basketball journey at St. Joseph University in New York.
Now based in Canton as an Eastern Michigan University (EMU) student, Coach AbdelKareem brings his expertise and enthusiasm to this camp. His experience running basketball camps and coaching young athletes makes him a perfect fit for guiding these budding players.
